Keep on movin’

Yes, we know. In the last few months, it may seem like the Telegraph has moved offices more times than an ex-mobster in the Witness Protection Program. Which is why it pains us to once again uproot from our plush digs atop the Ranch, especially after we got everyone all trained up to find us after our last move from the Smiley Building.

But fear not, dedicated readers. The new office, on the corner of Main and 8th Street, in the Graden Mercantile Building (upstairs from Coldwell Banker) should be as equally user friendly. And with an address of 777 Main Ave., #214 (think Valentine’s Day), how can it not be lucky?

We hope to be settled into our new digs and drinking a cold cerveza in time for next week’s big Cinco de Mayo issue. In the meantime, if you’d like to help the Telegraph moving crew, we are currently soliciting strong backs (pickup trucks an added bonus) in exchange for free beer and bumper stickers.

And if wisely you opt to stay far, far away from the moving ruckus, know full well you can always reach us at 970-259-0133, tele graph@durangotelegrph.com or P.O. Box 332, Durango, CO, 81302.

Meet the new boss

There’s a new hand on the shovel at Trails 2000. This week, the local trails advocacy group announced long-time local Larry “Reed” Myers is taking the helm as the new Crew Boss. Myers, who has lived and played in La Plata County since 1978, joins the nonprofit to help further its mission to plan, build and maintain the area’s 300-plus miles of trails.

Previously, Myers spent 25 years teaching elementary and middle school before returning to work in the bike and ski industry, most recently at Hassle Free Sports.

Executive Director Mary Monroe Brown met Myers about 10 years ago at Hassle Free and knew he had an instinctual eye for trail layout, drainage and alignment. “It’s such an honor that he’s willing to work with Trails 2000 as our Crew Boss. We really look forward to a fun and productive trail season,” she said.

Myers broke ground on his new job last Mon. April 18.
