Elks Speakeasy serves up roaring time

Elks What: Durango Elks Speakeasy Charity Ball
When: Sat., Nov. 14, 6 p.m. – midnight
Where: 901 E. 2nd Ave. (9th Street entrance)

Iron the zoot suit and dust off that flapper dress. The raucous twenties return for a rip-roaring good time at the Durango Elks Lodge Speakeasy Charity Ball this Saturday night. The good times get rolling at 6 p.m., with top-secret entrance gained through the “book depository” entrance on the lodge’s 9th Street side. (Hint: the password is something great granddad might’ve brewed up in a still in the backwoods under the cover of night.)

Festivities for this evening benefit include casino games, appetizers and desserts, non-prohibited adult beverages, and live music. The dance floor gets swinging with “7 Sharp 11,” followed by the big band sounds of “Simone Sanchez and the Machine” and DJ Chadillac. There will also be a costume contest and photo ops.

Tickets are $25 in advance and include $5 worth of gaming chips and free apps and dessert. For night owls, the ticket price drops to $15 at the door after 9 p.m.

Proceeds from the evening go toward the various local charities that the Elks support. For more info, check out the Durango Elks Lodge on Facebook.
