Book launch party for Scott Graham’s Mountain Rampage

When:  Tues., May 19, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Maria’s Bookshop, 960 Main Ave.

Local author Scott Graham is at it again with the release of the second in his national park mystery series, Mountain Rampage. Published by Utah-based Torrey House Press, book two is set here in Colorado, in Rocky Mountain National Park. It follows up last year’s debut of the series, Canyon Sacrifice, set in Grand Canyon National Park.

Graham, along with Torrey House and the San Juan Citizens Alliance will be celebrating the launch of this latest book next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Maria’s.
In Graham’s latest installment, archaeologist Chuck Bender returns as the leader of an archaeology field school for college students in Colorado’s most famed park. Here, amid Colorado’s towering peaks, he finds himself in the crosshairs of an unknown killer when he defends one of his team leaders from false murder accusations. To complicate matters, Bender also stumbles upon the gruesome graveyard of several Rocky Mountain rams – poached for their valuable horns. Add in a messy discovery in an old mine shaft, some fascinating new characters, mixed-family dynamics and a good sprinkling of national park history, and there’s enough plot twists and turns to keep readers on the edge of their seats.
According to Torrey House, pre-sales of Rampage have been stronger than any previous release.

“(Rampage is) filled with murder and mayhem, jealousy and good detective work … an exciting, nonstop read,” said writer Anne Hillerman, author of the New York Times bestselling Rock with Wings and Spider Woman’s Daughter.

According to Graham, Tuesday’s book launch will also be an opportunity to celebrate two of Durango’s finest assets: Maria’s Bookshop and the San Juan Citizens Alliance. “The event will be brief and lively, and door prizes will be involved, with the goal of a good time being had by all,” Graham wrote.
