Celebrating 25 years of Durango ‘Boho chic’

What: Animas Trading Co.’s 25th Anniversary Party
When:  Tues., Aug. 25
Where: 1015 Main Ave.

One of Durango’s longest-standing clothiers is turning 25 this week. To celebrate, Animas Trading Co. – which has been outfitting free-spirited men and women with its affordable Bohemian style since 1990 – is throwing a party.

This Tues., Aug. 25, Animas Trading Co. will be offering goodies and giveaways all day as a thank you to its loyal customers who “think globally and shop locally,” said owner Cathy Wakeman. In addition, there will be an Instagram photo booth, henna tattoos, a live broadcast with The Point radio station from 3–5 p.m., and live music with Ruckus and the Rice Patties from 5-7 p.m.

Each year, Wakeman, who started at the shop in 1993 and bought it in 2007, travels overseas for new inventory for Animas Trading Co. The store features clothing, jewelry and gifts from far-flung locales like Asia and Latin America, including India, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Ecuador, Guatemala and Nepal. And it can all be found at 1015 Main Ave.

“As we reflect on the last 25 years of business here in beautiful Durango, we feel lucky to be a part of such an amazing community that has such a support for local businesses,” said Wakeman.
