Finding happiness at work ... really

What: Durango Dharma Center presents a lecture by author and meditation teacher Sharon Salzberg
When: Fri., May 16; silent auction at 5:30 p.m., talk at 7
Where: Community Concert Hall
Stuck in a rut at the workplace? Is the grass always greener on the other side of the cubicle? Envision your way to a better work experience with the help of renowned author and Buddhist meditation teacher, Sharon Salzberg.

The cofounder of the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in Barre, Mass., Salzberg will be in Durango this Friday for a lecture and fund-raiser for the Durango Dharma Center.
A New York Times best-selling author of eight self-help books on meditation, Salzberg has played a crucial role in bringing Asian meditation practices of mindfulness and loving kindness to the West.
Mary Nowotny, community volunteer for the Dharma Center, said bringing Salazar to Durango is a “coup” for the community. “Her perspective on real happiness at work can be taken any number of ways – real happiness works and happiness at work can be real – whether it’s work at a paying job or working as a volunteer in the community,” said Nowotny.

The fundraising event begins with a silent auction and book sale at 5:30 p.m., with the talk following at 7. Salzberg will be on hand to sign copies of her books after her talk. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for those 22 and younger and can be bought at the Community Concert Hall Box Office, the Welcome Center at 8th and Main or www.durangoconcerts.com.
