Mother’s day theatre to benefit Mercy hospice

What: “Dear Mother,” letters from famous people to their moms
When: Sun., May 11, 3 p.m. and Tues., May 13, 7 p.m.
Where: Durango Arts Center, 802 E. 2nd Ave.

In honor of all mothers, the Durango Arts Center presents “Dear Mother,” a theatrical reading of letters written by famous people to their mothers. Read by the play’s creator, Judy Hook, with assistance from Judith Reynolds, some of the letters are innocent, some sad, and some darkly comedic. All express the complexity of love between a child and a parent. Bring your mother, surrogate mother, sister or best friend – or come and honor the memory of your mother.

The event is also sponsored by Alpine Bank, Hospice of Mercy and the Mercy Health Foundation. This event is part of the series “Honoring our Mothers and Fathers,” with “Dear Dad” taking place in mid-June in conjunction with Father’s Day. Donations are greatly appreciated and will go to Hospice of Mercy
