What: Merely Players presents “The Wizard of Oz”

Get ready to fly away to a magic land of yellow brick roads, flying monkeys, talking tin men and ... Dorothy the Steampunk and Glinda, the Sorceress of the North?

Merely Players will be staging its modern adaption on the classic “Wizard of Oz,” featuring Steampunk costumes and sets as well local children in a more politically correct role as munchkins.

The show, directed by Mona Wood-Patterson, opens Friday at 7 p.m. at the Arts Center and runs weekends through May 10. There will be 1 p.m. matinees on Sun., May 3 and 10.
