Bark & Wine to help out lovable locals

What: Bark & Wine Silent Auction and Fundraiser
Where: La Plata County Fairgrounds
When: Sat., Oct. 19 from 6-10 p.m.

It’s that time of year again when Durangoans can help take care of their furry friends with the 6th annual Bark & Wine Silent Auction Fundraiser from 6-10 p.m. Sat., Oct. 19, at the La Plata County Fairgrounds.

“We make a difference and you can too by having a good time at this year’s Bark & Wine,” said Chris Nelson, Director of Animal Services, who will also be speaking at the event along with other community members. “The staff and volunteers put a lot of heart and soul into the Humane Society, but it wouldn’t be possible without the supportive community that we live in.”

This year’s event features a wide variety of auction items up for bid with the proceeds going to the La Plata County Humane Society.

The society has big plans for those funds this year. They’re looking to begin Phase 2 of the dog play yard, which will eventually be open to the public, adding a second dog park to the Durango landscape. They’ll also be used to purchase collars and tags for all the cats that leave the facility.

The event features food from local favorites, as well as plenty of wine and beer. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased at Pet Haus, Maria’s Bookshop, Pine River Valley Bank or the La Plata County Humane Society. For additional information, visit www.lpchumanesociety.org.
