New year, new life for FLC grads

What:  Fort Lewis College Winter Commencement
Where: Whalen Gym
When: Sat., Dec. 21 at 10 a.m.

Graduates celebrate the start of a new year and a new stage in life with Winter Commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. Sat., Dec. 21, at Whalen Gym on the Fort Lewis College campus.

The FLC “Outstanding Teaching Award” winner, Susan Kraus, is this year’s speaker. The associate professor of psychology earned her graduate degrees at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her commitment to teaching drove her to find a place that truly valued teaching above all else; and, she found what she was looking for at FLC.
“I believe that the study of psychology is of great benefit to society,” Kraus said. “Students who understand human behavior and diversity are well equipped to be leaders, scientists and engaged citizens. Building compassion and understanding toward one’s self and others is crucial to leading a fulfilling life in service to others.”
Kraus’s goals as an educator echo the goals of FLC as an institution, inspiring graduates who are self-sufficient, independent, thoughtful and thirst for knowledge. For additional information about the event, visit www.fortlewis.edu/graduation.
