Arts Center transforms classic film into live radio play

What:  "It’s a Wonderful Life"
Where: Durango Arts Center, 802 E. 2nd Ave.
When: Fri., Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
The classic story of George, Clarence and the fate of Bedford Falls comes to the life at 7 p.m. Fri., Dec. 6 at the Durango Arts Center.
“It’s a Wonderful Life, A Live 1940’s Radio Play,” by Joe Landry and directed by Mona Wood Patterson, is a nostalgic and spirit-lifting tale featuring some of cinema’s most beloved characters. The story follows the life of George Bailey, showing just how one man’s life and choices can truly inspire so many others, even if he doesn’t realize it.
For the live radio broadcast version of this inspirational tale, the actors not only play these characters but also produce the sound effects in order to bring the town and its hero, George Bailey, to life.
The show also runs at 7 p.m. on Dec. 7, 13 and 14, and 2 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 15. For additional information about the play, visit www.durangoarts.org or call 259-2606.
