Nora Ephron play makes short run at DAC
What: “Love, Loss and What I Wore”
Where: Durango Arts Center
When: Sat., April 13, 7:30 p.m. and Sun., April 14, 2 p.m.

Following its recent staging of “Independence,” the DAC Panelli Theater will be the scene of another female focused play, “Love, Loss and What I Wore.” The play was a collaboration between famed playwright sisters Nora and Delia Ephron and is based on Ilene Beckerman’s best selling memoir of the same title. The story is a collection of women’s triumphs and failures, all of which are detailed by their memory of what they were wearing at the particular moment in time. To write the play, the Ephrons interviewed their own circle of friends and compiled the play from those first hand accounts.

The award-winning play continues to tour internationally after a two-year off-Broadway run that boasted many acclaimed actors, such as Blyth Danner, Joy Behar, Tyne Daly, Rosie O’Donnell, Kristen Wiig and Rita Wilson, to name a few of the rotating cast members.

With financial support from New Face Productions, the DAC is bringing “For Giving Players” the Santa Fe theatrical group and Director Janet Davidson to Durango for the short run.

In addition to the 90-minute performance, after each show there will be an question and answer period with the actresses. According to Diane Panelli, the DAC will also coordinate with the Women’s Resource Center and hold a “professional clothing drive.” Women are asked to bring in clothing that women in need can wear for job interviews or when returning to the work force. Clothing will be collected at the DAC and distributed by the Women’s Resource Center.

Celebrated improv group returns to Concert Hall

What: “The Second City: Laughing Matters”The Second City, Saturday 4/13/13 at 7:30 pm
Where: Community Concert Hall
When: Sat., April 13 at 7:30 p.m.
The long-running and celebrated improve group Second City returns to Durango for “Laughing Matters” at 7:30 p.m. Sat., April 13 at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College.

The Second City has been churning out comedic legends for decades, spawning the likes of Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray, John Belushi, Alan Arkin, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carrell, Mike Myers, Tina Fey and more.

The improvisational comedy enterprise that began in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood in the 1950s brings its own special brand of comedy to the stage and promises to bring some of that much-needed comic relief to Durango.

The touring company proclaims to be “a mind explosion of political and social satire,” and puts comedy first in this wickedly funny review that both skewers and celebrates in equal doses.

“Laughing Matters” features a mix of semi-improvised and scripted scenes, including new improv material that is based on audience suggestions.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. For additional information, visit www.durangoconcerts.com or call 247-7657.
