Other features include solar photovoltaic; solar hot water; geoexchange ground source heating and cooling; heat recovery ventilation; passive solar design; recycled fiberglass tub; and even a dog wash made from a shower recycled from Habitat ReStore.

This “Home Spotlight” event is sponsored by 4CORE and will shine again Dec. 6 at Three Springs. For information, visit http://fourcore.org.

Nakai trio plays FLC Community Concert Hall

What: Nakai, Eaton and Clipman
Where: Community Concert Hall
When: Sat., Nov. 3, at 7 p.m.
Let the music play. With sounds that lift the spirit and touch the soul, Native American flute player R. Carlos Nakai, guitarist William Eaton and percussionist Will Clipman take the stage at 7 p.m. Sat., Nov. 3 at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College.

The trio of master musicians has been committed to improvisation. Ancient melodies from Nakai’s cedar flutes and sophisticated harmonies of Eaton’s handcrafted multi-stringed instruments move with the pulse of Clipman’s world beat percussion.

Nakai, originally trained in classical trumpet and music theory, is well-grounded in the traditional uses of the flute and shaped his career by a desire to communicate a sense of Native American culture and society that transcends common stereotypes. Eaton began his musical journey as a boy with a ukulele and built his first guitar in 1971. Clipman started playing the drums and piano at age three, and has mastered more than 100 percussion instruments in addition to the traditional drum set.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and showtime is 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 247-7657 or visit www.durangoconcerts.com.
