What: Adopt-a-thon
Where: La Plata County Humane Society
When: Fri., June 1 and Sat., June 2, from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
The annual Adopt-a-thon is on. The La Plata County Humane Society hosts the 10th annual Adopt-a-thon Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the Humane Society.

They hope to find homes for as many animals as possible during the two-day event, but the goal they’ve set is 40 adoptions.

The usual adoption fees will be reduced, too. They’ve dropped it over half of the typical cost paid for any animals at the shelter. Dogs, cats, kittens and puppies alike will be at the lower cost for this event.

In addition to finding new homes for deserving pets, the event is also about having fun. Attendees can enjoy an assortment of goodies from the concession stand including barbecued burgers, brats and hotdogs, and options for vegetarians. Four Corners Broadcasting is going to be airing a live simulcast, along with many other fun activities for the whole family.

The Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, handles more than 3,000 animals each year and provides low-cost spay and neuter services Proceeds from the event will go directly to helping animals find a happy place to call home.

The thrift store next door is also open for business during the same hours. For additional information call 259-2847 or visit www.lpchumanesociety.org.
