River Days holds benefit party
What: Animas River Days Benefit Party
Where: The Balcony Bar & Grill and The Summit
When: Thurs., May 24, at 5:30 p.m.
The river party runs through 600 Main Ave., at 5:30 p.m. Thursday for an Animas River Days Benefit Party that begins at the Balcony Bar & Grill and ends at The Summit.
 
The event begins at The Balcony with live music from local talents Mike Madden and Terry Rickard at 5:30 p.m. It continues at The Summit at 10 p.m. with a DJ set by Kainos and a kayak giveaway.
 
The party benefits the upcoming Animas River Days festival, which takes place June 8-10. It is an annual celebration of the Animas River, which runs right through the heart of Durango. Some of the highlighted events at the festival include river activities like a slalom race, kayak and inflatable rodeo, boatercross, and a paddleboard race. A river film festival, a “Clean-up the Animas” contest, and a river parade will also be featured.
