Country visionary Stuart plays Concert Hall
What: Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives
Where: FLC Community Concert Hall
When: Wed., March 28, 7:30 p.m

Marty Stuart will be gracing the Community Concert Hall this Wednesday with his iconic, rich form of country music. Performing with him will be his band, the Fabulous Superlatives, forming a group of four. Stuart is currently on tour, promoting his latest album, “Ghost Train: The Studio B Sessions.”

Stuart is a five-time Grammy award winner and has graced the world of country music with his own unique style since the 1970s, performing with the likes of Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash. Musicologist Peter North claims that Stuart “has without question evolved into one of the most important roots musicians and visionaries in America.”

His latest album, “Ghost Train,” is said to be a revival of the original subject matter and style of country music that Stuart first came to love.
“The words and melodies are wrapped around rounders, ghosts, lovesick fools, the tortured soul of a grim executioner, a wino, a preacher, the working man, rocking and rolling country boys, weary tear-stained travelers, gamblers, thugs, thieves, and the likes of me,” explains Stuart. “Now that’s my kind of story and a pretty honest reflection of the last few years of my life. It’s pure language from the Old Testament side of country music.”

Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives will be playing at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call the Community Concert Hall at (970) 247-7657, or visit www.durangoconcerts.com.
