Bottoms Up

Where can you drop a choice line into beautiful Velocity Basin (without hiking), and land switch off a heroic 50-foot cliff into the arms of a cheering crowd? At Red Bull’s “Cold Rush,” that’s where. From March 5-7, some of the top free skiers on the planet competed in big mountain and slopestyle events held within the alpine compounds of Silverton Mountain. Two cineflex aerial HD cameras, three A-star helicopters, NBC, a DJ and the on-site meat smoker all tied the event together. You can catch the Cold Rush on NBC at 11 a.m. March 24.
