Beaming Bioneers at Durango Discovery Museum
What: The Beaming Bioneers Speaker Series
Where: Durango Discovery Museum, Boiler Room Theater
When: Wed., Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m.

Discover how new tools of technology can play the lead role on a global stage when “The Emerging Imagination Age,” featuring speakers Joshua Fouts and Rita King, comes to the Durango Discovery Museum’s Boiler Room Theater, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The presentation, a part of the Beaming Bioneers Speaker Series, focuses on how new media tools, like virtual worlds, games and the worldwide web, can affect global culture and educational reform through creativity, collaboration, art and music.

Bioneers, a term coined by founder Kenny Ausubel in 1990, are social and scientific innovators from different disciplines and walks of life. The Beaming Bioneers Speaker Series, presented by Red Willow Production Company, beams the presentations of Bioneers from the national conference in California and other sites across the country to local theaters. The series hosts several speakers throughout Durango in February, March and April.

As a writer, journalist, gamer and technologist, Fouts has a history of exploring the impact new technology tools have on the media. He is a Next Generation fellow at The American Assembly, and executive producer at Dancing Ink Productions. King, a writer, essayist and artist, is the Founding Director of Dancing Ink and an Innovator-in-Residence at IBM’s Analytics Virtual Center. She and Fouts are senior fellows for Digital Media and Public Policy at the Center for the Study of the Presidency & Congress.
