Bottoms Up

The heart: the cute red symbol of Valentine’s lore is not exactly eye candy when viewed au naturel. But for some brave folks, nothing says “love” like a good old-fashioned dissection of this blood-moving hunk of muscle. Now don’t be alarmed, this nonhuman specimen was obtained humanely via pig. Thanks to the Durango Discovery Museum and biologist Jen Lockey, Needham Elemantary students received an educational, hands-on learning experience that won’t be forgotten for quite some time. Here’s a look at all the squeamish fun:
