Rocky Horror swings into Strater Theatre
What: Rocky Horror Show: Live on Stage
Where: Henry Strater Theatre
When: Thurs., Oct. 27, 8 p.m.; Fri., Oct. 28, 7 & 10 p.m.; and Sat., Oct. 29, 6 & 9 p.m.

Horror doesn’t have to be scary, especially if you’re wearing a poodle skirt. The “Rocky Horror Show: Live on Stage” returns to the Henry Strater Theatre for its fourth year to celebrate the Halloween weekend.

Inspired by the film “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” this production takes “a twisted, whimsical take on a 1950s Soda Shoppe,” according to Emily Flood, Stage and Front of House Manager of the Henry Strater Theatre.

Thought to be a flop after its 1975 debut, the film was brought back to life in 1976. Fans across the globe continue to support it after 36 years. This cult classic is not known for encouraging wall flowers. Audience members are urged to get involved and even dress as their favorite characters from the movie.

Local and out-of-town performers make up the all-star cast to bring the musical extravaganza to Durango. For additional details call 375-7123 or visit www.henrystratertheatre.com.

Belle bras benefit breast cancer awareness
What: Bras Across the Belle Wrap-up Finale
Where: The Diamond Belle Saloon at the Henry Strater Theatre
When: Fri., Oct. 28, 4-5 p.m.

Bras can make the best decorations. The Diamond Belle Saloon has been hanging bras and taking donations throughout the month of October to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Friday is the Wrap-up Finale and the last chance to hang your bra for a good cause.

Clean, plain or decorated bras are hung across the Diamond Belle Saloon to celebrate or honor loved ones, or just for fun.

“So many of us are affected by breast cancer whether it’s directly or indirectly,” said Diamond Belle Food Service Manager Suzan Lane. “This is a really fun way to get involved with something very serious.”

Also, a portion of the sales for “Cosmobralitan” cocktails and Special Label Fuzziwigs Chocolate Belle Bars are donated to the fund that benefits breast cancer awareness and research.

For additional information call 375-7151 or visit www.strater.com.
