Jade brings indie hits to Abbey stage
What: Jade of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Where: The Abbey Theatre
When:  Wed., Dec. 28 at 9 p.m.
 
Known best for her vocals on the hit song “Home,” one she co-wrote and performed with Alex Ebert, of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, the singer and songwriter brings her talents to the Abbey Theatre, 128 E. College Drive.

Indie rock sensation Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros have appeared on several major late night talk shows, including Conan O’Brien, David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel. The band’s music has appeared in commercials, TV shows, and sold out festivals like Bonnaroo and Coachella.

Jade Castrinos performs some of the band’s big hits, and newer material from her solo project, due out next year. The show highlights the timeless vocals and genius songwriting of this inspired musician.

Mike Musick, who released his first solo album “This Town” in 2002, and the Saint James Band, featuring George Castrinos, open the show.

Sheen, Estevez find “The Way” together

Finding “The Way” is a family affair as father and son come together in this powerful film showing at the Back Space Theatre, 1120 Main Ave., Suite 2.

Martin Sheen stars alongside his son Emilio Estevez, who also wrote and directed the film.
 
Sheen plays Tom, an American doctor who journeys to France to collect the remains of the son, played by Estevez. The son died while walking the Camino de Santiago, known as The Way of Saint James.

Sheen’s character chooses to continue the journey and embark on the historical pilgrimage as a way to honor his son. The film follows the journey Tom takes along “The Way.”

The film shows at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, and only at 7 p.m. Dec. 26-29. There are two showings at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 30-Jan. 5, with special times on New Year’s Eve, 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
