‘Tapped’ to screen at Fort Lewis College
What: A screening and discussion of the documentary on the bottled water industry

When: Tues., April 12 at 7 p.m.  

 “Tapped” goes on screen at Fort Lewis College next week at the FLC Environmental Center. The documentary on the impacts of the bottled water industry shows on Tues., April 12.  

The film studies the impact of the bottled water industry on modern culture and examines the effects of bottled water on health, climate change, pollution and dependence on oil. It also asks a couple of fundamental questions. Is water a commodity that should be bought and sold? Or is the access to clean drinking water a basic human right?

The local event will include a Take Back the Tap Table, Environmental Center table, an ocean display about plastic, free reusable water bottles and free pizza. The event gets under way at 7 p.m. in 130 Chemistry Hall. For more information, call 247-7091.

Southwest Juried Photography Show returns
What: The annual juried photography show

When: Opening with a 5-7 p.m. reception on April 8

Durango photographers go on parade this week at the Durango Arts Center. The annual Images of the Southwest Juried Photography Show, a collaboration between the DAC and the Center of Southwest Studies, opens with a reception this Friday.

The show was created in 2003 to recognize the Southwest’s wealth of photography talent, and submissions are open to amateur and professional photographers alike, with a special category for students. This year’s theme is “Animals Rule!” and the exhibit features all types of furry, feathered and reptilian creatures that also call the Southwest home. The show was juried by local wildlife photographer Robert Winslow.
