| Inside the Common Reading Experience |
Durangoans can get up-close-and-personal with Enrique’s Journey and the Common Reading Experience in another way. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Sonia Nazario will speak in the Fort Lewis College Community Concert Hall this Thurs., Sept. 23. Doors to the free event open at 6:45 p.m. Nazario is the author of Enrique’s Journey, Fort Lewis College’s Common Reading Experience selection for this academic year. Each year the College selects one book that will be read and integrated into classrooms across the campus. Nazario will be on hand following the talk to sign books and answer questions. There will be Spanish translation for the event, and Spanish copies of the book are available at Maria’s Bookshop. “This book is a real bridge builder,” said Shirena Trujillo-Long, with Fort Lewis College’s Centro de Mochos Colores, which is helping put on the event. “I’m so glad to be part of helping to make sure English and Spanish copies of the book are available to really make this book a learning experience for all.” |
