The following BLM lands are closed to the public in order to provide habitat for wintering deer and elk. The BLM will ramp up patrol of the areas this weekend, handing out citations for trespass.

ï® Grandview Ridge area: The Sale Barn and Big Canyon trails, which are on BLM lands, are closed to any type of public entry at their trailheads on U.S. Highway 160. ï® The South Rim, Telegraph, Sidewinder and all other trails on BLM lands in the Grandview Ridge area are closed to all public entry and may not be accessed by any route, including the Carbon Junction Trail.

ï® Animas City Mountain: BLM lands are closed to any type of public entry, with the exception of a 1.5-mile trail loop on the lower portion of the mountain that is currently open. This loop can be accessed from the Birkett and 32nd Street trailheads or Dalla Mountain Park. Signs are posted at the top of the open loop indicating the beginning of the closure area.
