What: “Bang the Beat,” a music and arts fund-raiser for Haiti’s Albert Schweitzer Hospital Where: The Abbey Theater, 128 College When: Sat., April 10, 6:30 p.m.-midnight Schedule (times approximate): • 6:30 p.m.- Suzi DiSanto, of Durango Dance, gives a free Salsa dance lesson • 7 p.m. - “Ritmos del Animas,” a nine-piece band featuring Salsa, Latin rock and pop music. • 8:30 p.m. - The “Durango Drum and Dance Collective” performs African drum anddance, directed by Bradley Hoeslee • 9 p.m. – Dr. Wendy Grant will talk briefly about the work and needs of the Albert Schweitzer Hospital • 9:30 pm. - “Flat Tire Blues Band,” a seven-piece straight-up blues band • 10:30 p.m. - “Ritmos del Animas” plays an encore set • 11:15 p.m. - “Chico Blanco,” an eight-piece Salsa band with Ryan McCurry performing salsa, cha-cha and Afro-Cuban rhythms.
