The Dance Center presents ‘Let’s Dance’
What: Two performances by the new student company, the 13th St. Dancers

The Dance Center is giving a nod to David Bowie next week with “Let’s Dance,” a performance scheduled for May 13 & 14 at the Smiley Theater. The 13th St. Dancers, the Dance Center’s new student company, will take the stage each night at 7 p.m.

Directed by Lisa Bodwalk, the performances were inspired by the songs of David Bowie and feature choreography by both the director and company members. The shows will also mark the debut of the student company, the 13th St. Dancers.

 “Sweet Thangs” go on display at the Durango Arts Center this week. The annual members show opens in conjunction with the Spring Gallery Walk this Fri., May 8.

Visual artists and writers were invited to submit works reflecting the “Sweet Thangs” theme, and works that fill the heart with joy or are sweet enough to rot the teeth have been selected. The public can get a taste of the sweet stuff this Friday from 5-8 p.m. during the Gallery Walk. Ten other galleries throughout downtown Durango will also take part in the event. Those who miss the Gallery Walk can view “Sweet Thangs” through May 27.
