Living with Wildlife presents ‘Division Street’
What: A free screening of the documentary profiling the future of the American road
Where: The Durango Arts Center, 802 E. Second Ave.

“Road ecology” goes on the big screen next week in Durango. The La Plata County Living with Wildlife Advisory Board hosts a free screening of the documentary “Division Street” on June 30 at the Durango Arts Center. The event is part of the board’s summer speaker series.

“Division Street” presents a new generation of ecologists, engineers, planners and everyday citizens who are making way for wildlife by transforming the future of the American road. After the film, Marcel Huijser, of the Western Transportation Institute and the Colorado Department of Transportation will be presenting their work on the U.S. 160 animal detection system and will take questions.

The Itals help KDUR ‘Power the Tower’
What: A music festival fund-raiser for the public radio station  
Where: The Summit, 600 Main Ave.
When: Sun., June 28, at 8 p.m.

KDUR Public Radio will get a boost from Jamaica this Sunday. Reggae legends, the Itals, will join local bands Megaphon, Oatie Paste, A Dub Rock Band and DJs Jonezy & I-Gene at the Summit for the Power the Tower Music Festival, a KDUR benefit. The all ages show gets under way at 8 p.m.

The Itals – Keith Porter, Ronnie Davis and David Isaacs – recently reunited in Savanna La Mar, Jamaica, and are on tour again. The band is recognized internationally as one of reggae’s premier harmony trios and touring behind a soon-to-be released album. The Itals continue to champion the roots reggae sound they helped to create, beginning with their anthem, “Ina Dis Ya Time,” first recorded in 1975.

With five local acts joining the Itals, Power the Tower will not be short on talent. For more information, call 247-2324.
