A celebration of the life of Greg Walker is set for this Sun., Nov. 9. Walker passed away while climbing Pico de Orizaba in Mexico 10 years ago, and the local event will benefit a scholarship in his name. The fund-raiser gets under way at Lady Falconburgh’s at 5 p.m. and includes a performance by Thom Chacon – one of only four acts to play Folsom Prison – a silent auction and free food and beer, courtesy of Carvers and Ska Brewing. All funds go to “Climbing with Kids,” a nonprofit that helps inner-city kids summit peaks in the Sierra Range. For more information, contact 946-9546. |
