As part of the ongoing Music in the Mountains Festival, Tuesday night saw another amazing performance by some of the worlds finest musicians. A performacne titled Russian Revelation made an intimate tip of the hat to Russian composers Dmitri Shostakovich, Sergei Rachmaninov and Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Led by the fetivals new and beloved music director, Guillermo Figueroa, the performance at Durango Mountain Resort was ushered in by the beat of a steady rain, a fitting accompaniment to the hushed and moody chamber music. The 22nd season of Music in the Mountains continues through Aug. 3.

Guillermo Figueroa and fellow violinist Chloe Trevor, right,
perform Shostakovichs Octet on Tuesday night. The audience mills about during intermission while the musicians
prepare backstage for their final piece of the evening. Music in the Mountains director and conductor, Guillermo
Figueroa, tunes his violin before taking the stage to perform
Tchaikovskys Souvenir de Florence. Jan Simiz gets in a last-minute warm-up on his cello before
taking the stage. Arkady Fomin, left, and Jesus Castro-Balbi (along with David
Korevaar who is not pictured), perform Rachmaninovs Trio Elegiaque
for Violin, Cello and Piano.
