The Fort Lewis College Art Gallery hosts the Invitational Student Exhibition through Jan. 17. Winter Discovery Walks get under way What: The San Juan Mountains Association’s Winter Discovery program Where: Durango, Mancos and Dolores     When: Most Fridays from 9:30 a.m.-noon Four Corners residents can discover a deeper appreciation of winter in coming months. The San Juan Mountains Association, in partnership with San Juan Public Lands, is once again offering Winter Discovery Walks beginning Jan. 4. Walks for kids, families and homeschool groups take place on public lands most Fridays from 9:30 a.m. – noon.   Winter Discovery programs begin with an indoor component, which will discuss snow properties, animal tracks and other winter phenomena. Once the walk moves outdoors, the discovery includes snowshoeing (snow-dependent), snow study and winter animal tracking.  Children older than the age of 4 are welcome. A limited number of kids’ snowshoes are available to use for the walks. Adults must supply their own. The Winter Discovery Walks continue this Friday in Mancos, and events alternate between Mancos, Durango and Dolores. The 16th annual Southwest Business Forum, “Focus on Our Future: Business & Economics,” will take place in the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College on Fri., Jan. 11. The forum offers an opportunity to hear from several experts in the fields of business and economics. The intent is to help any business, nonprofit organization, government agency, or personal enterprise make better financial decisions now and in the future. Topics of discussion cover local, state, national and international economies.
