Its no secret that Durango is growing in practically every direction. These days, trackhoes and earth movers are as common a sight as mountain bikers on the trails and bears in the garbage cans, as the dance of development proceeds from one end of La Plata County to the other. Whether this growth spurt is over-the-top or in tune with Durangos future needs and demands is also up to interpretation. Time, alone, will be the judge.

A hardhat sits near the frame of a new house just west of
Durango. Tyvek as far as the eye can see. This new housing complex awaits
an exterior at Three Springs development behind the new
hospital. A painter walks through a corridor of apartments at one of the
many new neighborhoods going up at Three Springs. A commercial property plays a trick on the eye in the new East
Animas Village development, at the corner of CR 250 and
Florida. A push broom is poised perfectly on the subflooring of a house
under construction at Edgemont Ranch.
