Weigh-in on Animas: BLM offers additional opportunities for input

The public has several more chances to speak up about the fate of Animas Mountain.

Right on the heels of a May 23 open house, the Bureau of Land Management is offering informational field trips May 30 and June 2. During each of the sessions, resource specialists from the agency will answer questions and accept comments. Call 884-1430 to register.

The BLM is also accepting written comments on Animas Mountain wildfire mitigation through June 15. Comments may be e-mailed to cgoodell@fs.fed.us or mailed to the Columbine Public Lands Office, P.O. Box 439, Bayfield, CO 81122.

“We are looking to the public to give us input to shape which alternative or variation of alternatives we go with,” said Craig Goodell, assistant fire manager. “Right now, we haven’t selected any option, and we’re open to input.”
