Durango Telegraph - Chocolate Fantasia goes Hollywood
Chocolate Fantasia goes Hollywood

The 21st Chocolate Fantasia returns to Durango this Fri., March 16, and the event is going Hollywood this year. Local restaurants and amateur chefs will be competing to create not only the best-tasting desserts, but desserts that relate to Hollywood stars and films. Doors to the Fort Lewis College Ballroom open at 5:30 p.m.

In addition to chocolate tastings, there will be a silent auction with items like a giant chocolate bunny and a bountiful chocolate-filled Easter basket. For those who need a brief intermission from the tasting, Raspberry Beer and cordials over shaved ice will be available at the bar. Throughout the evening, there will be the opportunity to vote on the best professional chocolate creation, finishing off the evening with the announcement of the People’s Choice Award.

All proceeds from Chocolate Fantasia benefit the Volunteers of America Southwest Safehouse and Durango Community Shelter. For more than 20 years, Volunteers of America has served local children, women and men who are fleeing from domestic violence or struggling with homelessness.

Tickets for the event are available at North and South City Markets, Albertson’s, Alpine Bank and the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
