| Stanton goes public |
This Sunday, Dec. 9, from 1-3 p.m., the Anasazi Heritage Center features an opening celebration for an exhibit of Stanton Englehart’s work titled “Seasons on the Plateau,” named for one of Englehart’s masterpieces. One of the main attractions, besides the art itself, will be the public release of the new book, Stanton Englehart: A Life On Canvas edited by Durango’s own Jules Masterjohn, with contributions from locals, Judith Reynolds, Joel Jones, and Scott DW Smith. The gorgeous book includes a half-hour DVD and will be available for sale for the first time at the celebration. After Dec. 9, the book can be found online at www.stantonenglehartbook.com and in Durango at Maria’s Bookshop, Toh-Atin Gallery, and the Durango Arts Center. The Anasazi Heritage Center is located three miles west of Dolores on State Highway 184. For more information, call the Center at 882-5600, or visit the museum’s web site at www.blm.gov/ co/st/en/fo/ahc.html. |
