Last Saturday, the Chapman Hill ice rink hosted the Womens Give-Hockey-a-Try Day. More than two dozen women came out for the event, sponsored by local traveling womens hockey team The Durango Fury. Some first-timers barely knew how to lace up their skates, while others were skilled skaters but had little experience with a hockey stick. Regardless of skill level, most got the hang of hockey by the end of the day, thanks to instruction from Mike Moriarty and Jenny Aponowicz.

Wendy Grant practices passing a puck to a first-time player. Wendy Grant walks back to the locker room to finish padding
up. Jenny Aponowicz gives some instruction to the mock team during a
scrimmage . Aponowicz plays for The Durango Fury. Jennifer Floyd watches another team scrimmage before padding up
herself.
