Weighing in on local foods: Growing Partners offer forum

The Growing Partners of Southwest Colorado are making their first outreach to the community this week. The first of three community forums to take place this year is scheduled for Feb. 28 in Ignacio. Additional forums will take place in Durango and Bayfield in coming months.

The group’s goal is making nutritious food available to all people in the community and encouraging their input. The community forum will focus on people’s feedback for the planning of a countywide study to look at: current resources; cur

rent needs of the food system; and the specific needs of underserved populations in accessing healthy food.

The Ignacio forum runs from 6 to 9 p.m., locally prepared foods will be served and RoadRunner will provide free transportation to and from the event, leaving Albertson’s parking lot at 5:25 p.m.
