OK, Diver,

My son wants a motorcycle. Obviously, I’m against this as most mothers should be. But, I’m keeping an open mind and letting him think this through himself. He has the money, he’s taken a motorcycle riding class, is all about the helmet and all that, but I’m still against this. He’s almost 18. Should I let him do it?

– Concerned Mom

Dear Concerned Mom,

Of course you should let him get a motorcycle. Basically he’s his own man. However, if you truly want him to decide for himself maybe try using reverse psychology. Tell him to drive fast and that helmets are for pansies.

Dearest Diver,

I’m sick of this column bashing various cliques and genres of music! Who the hell do the letter writers think they are? People are people. Let them do what they want without bashing them for liking reggae or Top 40 music, or football teams or whatever. People are people so why should it be that you and I should get along so awfully? Do you like Depeche Mode, or are you a music snob, too?

– Concerned yet loyal reader,  John

John,

I think that your purpose is self-defeating. People are people, and some people are jerks. So to quote a good friend, “take what you can and leave the rest.”

Diver,

I’m between the 10th and 11th grade at DHS, and I’m thinking about dropping out. I kicked ass at snowboarding this past winter, and I’m ready to go pro for a season or two. This obviously is pissing my parents off. What do you think? Should I go for it and follow perhaps, a dream?

– Lance

Lance,

The answer to your query is a tough one. I must say, though, if your real goal is to eventually finish school, then you should go for it. I think.
