Local bicycling advocates and cycling afficionados gathered at the south end of Main Avenue last Friday evening for Durango's inaugural ride into the culture of Critical Mass. Rooted in bicycling advocacy, Critical Mass has become a worldwide cycling movement. Local riders eager to participate and promote the awareness of cycling began their ride east up Fifth Street and then made their way down Main Avenue as downtown motorists and sidewalk traffic took it all in. The group ride ended at the Durango Recreation Center where riders celebrated their downtown tour. Scheduled for the last Friday of every month, Critical Mass organizers are hopeful that it will become a fixture in the Durango cycling community.
