Annual Alien Run MTB race lands in Aztec
What: Alien Run Mountain Bike Competition
Where: Tiger Park in Aztec
When: Sun., May 6 at 10 a.m.
Whether they believe in other intelligent life forms or not, local mountain bikers will get a chance to ride some out-of-this-world singletrack this weekend in Aztec. The Alien Run Mountain Bike Competition returns to the alleged UFO crash site in Hart Canyon for its 12th year, offering races for all abilities.
The event, sponsored by Aztec Trails and Open Space, is meant to bring alien visitors and earthlings together to experience the mountain biking trails Aztec has to offer year round.
Registration for riders opens at 8 a.m. with a pre-race meeting at 9:45 a.m. and lunch at 12:30 p.m. Races start in Aztec's Tiger Park and feature a 10-mile course for beginners, 24-mile sport course, and a 25-mile trek for experts.
The Alien Trail runs through Hart Canyon and was originally developed by area riders, encircling the alleged UFO crash site of near Aztec. As it moves through the high desert, riders enjoy great views and challenging features like short single-track climbs, technical drops and rolling slickrock.
For more information about the event or to register, visit www.alienrun.com or call 505-333-2057/505-419-0175.
