Gear up for Animas High fund-raiser
What: Animas High School Sports Sale Fund-raiser
Where: Girls and Boys Club of La Plata County
When: Sat., April 21, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
In need of gear or have gear to get rid of? Animas High School hosts its 2nd annual Sports Sale to benefit the school’s academic programs from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday at the Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County, 2750 Main Ave.
All kinds of sports gear can be found at the sale. Attendees can either donate their lightly used sports equipment directly to Animas High, giving 100 percent of the proceeds to the school, or they can sell their own gear by manning a booth and donating 20 percent of sales to Animas.
Those interested can sell old gear or stock up on new or used gear for summer or winter activities. Some of the equipment accepted includes ski, football, basketball, mountaineering, mountain biking, soccer, baseball, tennis, hockey, gymnastics, softball and volleyball equipment.
This annual event takes care of both gear-seekers and gear-givers, and helps to fund the programs at Animas High. For additional information, call 903-3434 or email pac@animashighschool.com.

Well, industrious self-starter types need look no further than this year's Homesteader's Faire, the latest addition to the Green Living Expo. The faire features workshops on several do-it-yourself topics, ranging from adobe brick-making to bike tuning. There is even a session on goat keeping. All sessions are free with entrance into the Green Expo. The schedule follows:
