Joey and the Holy Men come to Durango
What: “Holy Men” photo exhibit by "JoeyL"
Where: Open Shutter Gallery, 725 Main Ave.
When: Artist’s reception April 6, 5-8 p.m.
Only 23 years of age, award-winning photographer JoeyL (Lawrence) has already developed a global reputation as a celebrated commercial and fine-art photographer. Famous for his work in the advertising and entertainment fields, he is a photographer for numerous rock bands, the Twilight film series and celebrity personalities.
His recent series, “Holy Men,” will be shown at the Open Shutter Gallery beginning Fri., April 6, and will run through June 7. Each powerful portrait presents the viewer with a highly spiritual person whose image on film portrays their outward mystical presence, as well as inner sanctity. Beautifully captured, the photos are in a class worthy of a much more seasoned artist.
While not part of this exhibit, JoeyL’s work is familiar in advertisements from Verizon, Kawasaki, The History Channel and "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia" TV series, among others.
On April 7 at 3 p.m. there will be a premier showing of a film about Joey at The Back Space Theater. Tickets are available at the Open Shutter, and Joey will be present to answer questions after the film.
