Bottoms Up

After 48 colorful years, the Hesperus Ski Patrol just might know a thing or two about throwing a ski swap. Take, for instance, the hundred-plus gear-hungry hopefuls who toughed out the sleet, snow and darkness outside the La Plata County Fairgrounds last Saturday to ensure fresh tracks on those unbeatable bargains. And with the icy grip of Old Man Winter already upon us, folks are gearing up for what  is sure to be another long and satisfying season. Here’s a look:
