FLC presents Women’s Small Business Conference

Durango’s female business owners can get a leg up this week. The 2nd annual Colorado Women’s Small Business Conference meets at the DoubleTree Hotel on July 14. The event is hosted by the Small Business Development Center at Fort Lewis College.  

Julia Hubbel, an entrepreneur, author and journalist, will keynote the event and share insights from her book, Tackling the Titans. Educational break-out sessions will run throughout the day, and attendees can choose from 12 sessions covering many aspects of small business ownership. An entrepreneurial panel, comprised of prominent Durango business women, will discuss business challenges and answer questions from 4 - 5 p.m.

‘Survivors’ host Humane Society poker run
What: “The Critter Crawl,” a ride benefiting the La Plata County Humane Society

Durango’s Clean and Sober Motorcycle Club is riding to the rescue this week. The Survivors will host a benefit poker run for the La Plata County Humane Society this Saturday. Proceeds will go to remodeling the Shelter’s dog isolation room.
 
“The Critter Crawl” will start at Desperados Bar and Grill at 10 a.m., and the run will make several stops before returning around 1 p.m. The event also includes an auction, raffles and door prizes, and cars are also welcome to join the ride.
 
The Survivors is a brotherhood of clean and sober bikers whose primary purpose is to be in the community for the brother or sister who wants to stop drinking and using drugs.
