Time flies when youre recreating. Believe it or not, the Durango Community Recreation Center opened its doors 10 years ago this month. To celebrate its 10th birthday, the Rec Center went all out on Jan. 5 and offered free admission to all comers. Pass holders received a commemorative sweat towel and the celebration included free cake and ice cream, as well as myriad ways to work them off.

8-year-old Star Stanton sticks a long reach on the climbing wall
during Game Time activities last week. Will he recover before belly flopping from the high-dive? Forrest Connor concentrates on a clutch shot at the billiards
table. Big and little children alike frolic in the pool during an
atypically calm winters day.
