Four Corners Belly Dance Festival returns
What: A belly dance performance featuring Isidora Bushkovski

Belly dance goes into the local spotlight this weekend. The Four
Corners Belly Dance Festival returns on May 30 & 31 for its
sixth year and features a performance by internationally acclaimed
belly dancer, Isidora Bushkovski.
Bushkovski will perform along with local soloists, troupes and
musicians this Saturday at the Smiley Theatre. The all-ages event
gets under way at 7 p.m. The following day, Bushkovski will offer a
series of workshops.
The event is presented by Al Mafra Four Corners Belly Dance. The
local nonprofit is dedicated to the art and education of Middle
Eastern dance in the Four Corners Region. For more information or

Country Joe McDonald plays the Abbey Theatre
What: A concert from the rock legend and Woodstock original

The Abbey Theatre pays homage to the 40th anniversary of
Woodstock this week. Rock ‘n’ roll legend and Woodstock
performer Country Joe McDonald plays the local venue this Sat., May
30.
McDonald was the lead singer and co-founder of the
pioneering 1960s band, Country Joe and the Fish. The band came
about in the fall of 1965 in response to the War in Vietnam as part
political device and part entertainment. The band is best known for
its Woodstock performance and the rallying cry of “What are
we fighting for?”
In addition, Country Joe’s career has spanned 40 years, 33
albums and hundreds of songs. In 2007, Country Joe perfected his
“”Tribute to Woody Guthrie” show, a mix of music
and spoken word, and took it around the country to great acclaim.
