The Iguanas play KSUT’s annual block party
What: A fund-raiser for the local public radio station
Where: The 1200 block of Main Ave.
When: Sat., July 18. Gates open at 5 p.m.
The tradition continues this week as the New Orleans band The
Iguanas return for their fifth annual KSUT benefit concert. The
noted party band will play downtown Durango’s Buckley Park on
July 18. Gates open and festivities begin at 4 p.m., with food,
drink and opening band, The Lawn Chair Kings.
While the Iguanas roots are firmly in New Orleans, their music
combines Mexican conjunto, R&B, jazz, Latin and Caribbean
rhythms. Despite their well-deserved reputation as the ultimate
party band, New Orleans’ Iguanas have always had a flair for
melodies and lyrics and offer an incredibly fun and high-energy
concert experience. Their previous Durango performances have drawn
capacity crowds and have been enthusiastically received by the
local audience.
The 1200 block of Main Avenue will be closed to traffic for the
event to make room for a block party featuring food and margaritas
from Zia Taqueria, beer from Ska Brewing and additional food and
beverage vendors
