EOTO makes a return to the Summit
What: Former SCI members Jason Hann and Michael Travis’ current project
Where: The Summit, 600 Main Ave.
When: Sun., Feb. 1 at 9 p.m.
Two pieces of String Cheese return to Durango this weekend. The
Summit presents a Feb. 1 show from a band that is rapidly becoming
a local favorite – EOTO.
Jason Hann and Michael Travis (percussionist and drummer from
The String Cheese Incident) have created what they call a
“100 percent improvised live looping project,” EOTO. On
stage, they use loop technology to create “truly original and
melodic dance music in the moment, with the undeniable power of
live drums.” The music is all created on the spot, looped,
then mixed and remixed live. The result is 100% improvised live
Breakbeat/ House/ Drum n Bass/ Trip Hop.
Hann and Travis play different roles in this band than in SCI.
Jason plays the drum kit, percussion and sampler, while Travis is
in charge of the tonal elements, playing bass, guitar, keyboards,
as well as hand percussion and live mixing.
Glide Magazine described the EOTO experience, saying, “Get
two refined rhythm devils who finish each other’s musical
sentences and know when to complement, when to hang back and when
to cut loose knowing the other will match him shot for shot,
you’ll get futurist jazz.”
The pair go on stage this Sunday at 9 p.m. For more information,
call 247-2324.
