| The local debate on 48: Panel set for Oct.14 |
The discussion on the definition of “person” lands in Durango next week. A forum on Amendment 48 is set for Tues., Oct. 14, from 6-8 p.m. in 130 Noble Hall at Fort Lewis College. Doors to the event open at 5 p.m. The panel discussion will highlight Amendment 48’s proposed changes to the definition of “per son” as well as possible changes to health care, contraception and the legal rights of “persons.” The forum will also explore the underlying issues of Amendment 48 including: women’s rights to health care; patient privacy; ectopic pregnancies; effects on victims of sexual assault; and women’s reproductive rights in a court of law. The forum will be moderated by Tamlin Klutinis, of the Latina Initiative. Panelists include: Dr. Kim Priebe, M.D., Four Corners Ob-Gyn; Fay Schrater, Ph.D. in immunology and infectious disease (formerly with World Heath Organization); and Gail Harriss, attorney, Dawnes, Harriss, & Bloodsworth P.C. |
