Over the weekend, Purgatory saw the biggest, and possibly final, true big air to descend its slopes during the Goliath Gelande Jump. Brisk and breezy conditions ushered in the Gelandes swan song, and Pat Arnone ushered in the new hill record of 262 feet, trumping the previous record of 254 feet set in 1984 by Phil Lamont. Word on the slopes was that this would be the historic Gelandes farewell event. The resorts master plan calls for a lift going right up the middle of the run. But one never knows with winters like these...
