Its hard to forget that first encounter with the fat man in red. No bigger than an elf, youngsters are hoisted onto this bearded strangers knee and asked if theyve been good this year. For some, its was a dream come true; for others, a total nightmare. What is it about this colorful character who only comes around once a year that makes him so mysterious? TheTelegraphcaught up with Ol Saint Nick recently to get a behind the scenes take on the everyones favorite end-of-the-year chimney crasher, Santa Claus.

Ol Saint Rick Urban, aka Santa, gathers the yuletide essentials
before heading out into the throngs of eager children. Mrs. Claus helps tighten Santas belt around his bulging belly,
pre-game, in the malls dressing room. A young believer gives the jolly old elf the once over. In a well-deserved moment of relaxation, Claus sits back and
takes a load off during his 15-minute break. Its not easy being
Santa. Wherever Santa goes, anxious children seem to fall into step
behind in hopes of a chalking up a few more brownie points.
