General Manager
Position
The San Juan Symphony
seeks a highly qualified General Manager. The SJS is a
regional orchestra serving the Four Corners area, principally in
fast-growing, arts rich Durango, CO, home of Fort Lewis College,
and in Farmington, NM, a booming oil and gas town, one hour south,
home of San Juan College. The General Manager is the sole
fulltime employee of the symphony. S/he is responsible for
administrative and fundraising support, concert production and
non-artistic activities of the orchestra. The Board of
Directors would like to see the position evolve into an Executive
Director position with a focus also on strategy and fund
development. The General Manager reports to the Board of Directors.
S/he works with the Music Director and oversees a part-time staff
including personnel manager, librarian and stage manager. The
successful candidate will be an energetic, positive and gregarious
person who can increase the symphony’s profile in the
communities. A good multi-tasker, s/he will manage a variety
of details and calendars. This is an excellent opportunity for
a creative administrator ready for his or her own shop. The
salary is estimated at $40,000 per annum, depending on experience,
with possible advancement to the Executive Director
position. Please send cover letter and resume by January 28,
2007, to: The Search Committee, 3581 County Road 228,
